The cosmetic surgeon makes incisions behind the hairline near the temples and around the front of the ears, to be able to reposition the deeper tissue beneath the skin and remove the excess skin. As a result, naturally youthful contour to the face and neck is restored.
Considering a number of factors including the patient’s anatomy, personal desires, and the extent of the facelift needed, the surgeon chooses the best technique.
Facelifts are generally performed under general anesthesia, although in some cases that require less extensive procedures, local anesthesia with sedation may be used.
For patients with excess fat beneath the chin it is also recommended to combine the procedures with a Neck Liposuction. In neck liposuction small incisions are made under the chin and fat will be removed to improve the appearance of neckbands.
It is noteworthy that the result of facelift typically lasts up to 6 years.
